How often does my dirt bike or ATV need servicing?

🏍️ Dirt Bikes

Oil & filter change: Every 10–15 hours of riding (more often if you ride motocross, sand, or mud).

Air filter cleaning/replacement: After every ride in dusty/muddy conditions, otherwise every 2–3 rides.

Chain cleaning & lubrication: After every ride.

Brake check: Every ride, replace pads as needed.

Valve clearance check: Every 20–30 hours (4-stroke engines).

Full service/inspection: Every 40–50 hours or at least once a season.

🛻 ATVs

Oil & filter change: Every 50 hours or 6 months, whichever comes first.

Air filter: Check after each ride, clean/replace often in dusty areas.

Coolant & brake fluid: Every 2 years.

Drive belt/chain inspection: Every ride; replace if worn.

Grease fittings (if applicable): Every 25–50 hours.

Full service/inspection: At least once a year.

What is included in a standard tune-up?

How do I know if my brakes need replacing?

You’ll know your dirt bike or ATV brakes need attention if you notice:

Squeaking, squealing, or grinding noises when braking.

Reduced stopping power or needing to press harder on the lever/pedal.

Brake lever or pedal feels soft/spongy instead of firm.

Pads look thin (less than 1–2mm of material left).

Vibration or pulsing when braking (could mean warped rotors).

Hourly Services

aftermarket accessories installation

$90/h

  • This time is billed by the hour, at $90/hour, for as long as it takes.

  • With many variations of how aftermarket accessories can be fastened to a bike or atv, the installation is rarely straight-forward.

maintenance and standard repairs

$85/h

  • Maintenance and Standard repair are billed at $85/hour and based on the most recent labor time guides, excluding unforeseen issues.

  • Unforeseen issues include items such as: broken fasteners, damaged fasteners, damaged housings caused prior to the start of service and previous damage not seen until the disassembly and inspection part of the job.

  • Clients will be notified before work resumes.

paintwork

$100/h

  • Paintwork for anything is $100/hour and billed hourly, with a minimum of 5 hours.
